  Spindle: Supports and provides rotational drive for the mandrel; driven by an electric motor that can be in excess of 170 horsepower. During forward flowforming, provides the necessary pressure against the closed bottom of the preform to the butt-end of the mandrel. The tailstock is used with a closed or semi-closed cylinder. The tailstock’s pressure is essential for ensuring that the preform rotates with the mandrel.
